Information about Autism and Developmental Disabilities
Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASDs) are a broad group of developmental disorders that are characterized by impairment in social interaction, impairment in communication, and restricted repetitive and stereotyped patterns of behavior, interests, and activities. These features occur prior to 3 years of age and last throughout an individual’s life. Some children show delays or early markers for an ASD as early as a few months of age, while others appear to develop typically until approximately 18-24 months and then they may experience loss of skills or stop developing new skills.
The median age of autism diagnosis is between 4.5 and 5.5 years of age. Early identification and intervention lead to the greatest and longest lasting results. We are here to help.
